Magazine Evaluation

Firstly all of us wer put into groups of four at random from the people in our class. The Dan gave us a task of creating our own front cover from scratch and that we had to be on the front cover. Dan also gave us a piece of sugar paper and a merker pen to write down our ideas on. As a group we all decided the genre would be about R&B, Also we agreed to name our own magazine “BUMP!”. We also agreed to make two issues, a winter issue and a sumer issue.
We planned to make our front cover apeal to the younger generation but also could appeal to any of the older generation who like R&B. We felt that the younger generation would catch on to it abit more quicker than the older generation.
Once we decided what was going on our front cover and what it was going to be about, we then got given a camera by Dan to go out in our four’s to pose for photos to go on our front cover. Once we got our pictures to go on our front cover we den split up from four’s into pairs. Me and ali worked together whilst suzanne and elelta worked together. Me and ali worked on the winter issue while suzanne and elelta worked on the summer version.
Once we had the perfect shots and our ideas planned out we den had to actuallt start producing the magazine from scratch. Our magazine consists of: Mastline, images, straplines, free products and interviews.
Our winter issue of bump is for both boys and girls because ther main picture on the cover is of 2 god looking boys and 2 good looking girls. Also the girls can get a free poster of the two boy members and stick it on their bedroom wall. Also it targets many ethnicities because all the people are from different cultures. Each person in the photo have different personalities for example the boys look serious asif they are trying to be gangsters and the girls look like they are friendly and geneerally happy people, so it doesnt just target one set of audience it targets many different audiences.
We atracted our audience by making the magazine cover live by ading alot of straplines, free things, interviews and stories about other people apart from the band. Also we attracted our audience by adding bright coours and contrast between colours instead of making everything different colours or making everything just one colour. So the colours are mainly red, white and black we chose these colours because we felt that these colours go with each other the best without making the magazine cover look cheap and boring. Also we felt that if we have one of the most liked and most famour rap artists giving an iterview wpuld attract alot of fans which would make our magazine successfull.
Some kinds of media institutes that could distribute our magazine cover is through magazines themselves like a little image of the front cover with a analytical critic talking about it like what kinds of things are inside it. Also it could be advertised on the radio with the band going in to talk about what they got asked to do and telling people over the radioagain whats inside the mag. Also it can be advertised on the T.V having a little slogan like other mags do E.g. 50 things for 50p something like that and on busses aswell e.g when a buss goes past you the pictures will stand out and also could have a the date it is comming out and you could enlarge the picture of kanye west on the side looking at the magazine.

I have lernt alot about technologies from the process of constructing this magazine front cover which include getting the right backgroung, the perfect picture because if u aint got a good picture the it aint going to look right and most important peopl will not buy it. Also i have learnt how to contrast the right colours together to bring that bit of umph out of the photo, And i have learnt that you have to spread the straplines out other wise it becomes too much and looks unattractive and people won buy it. Finally i have learnt that the style of writing helps the magazine alot its brings in a little more character to it instead of having the same style all the time wich makes it boring and not interesting.
I think that if i was to make another front cover for a magazine i would most definately plain ertai things more properly like costume camera angles straplines and other little things that could be included on the front cover also i think i would think more carefully about who i would work with because although it was fun working with these people i dont think we worked to our full potential.
